POTD - Habits

Not sure this qualifies as a habit, but it's definitely an addiction. This weekend was a fundraiser tournament. There were a string of jewelry heists going on all along the east coast. Unfortunately our area was hit with one. They held up Lennox Jewelers. They were on their getaway and some local policemen were on their trail. They smashed into a gas pump and the driver got out and ran, the passenger was caught as soon as his door opened. One police officer took off on the chase. They were in the woods and the thief took a shot at Officer Corr. He was killed instantly. The thief took off back to PA where he lived and was later shot and killed during a standoff. The other one apprehended was just tried and convicted a few months ago. He'll do life.

Officer Corr was a husband and a father of a 1 year old little girl. This tournament was in honor of Officer Corr and the proceeds go to a Trust for his daughter. This is the second year for the tournament and they had 22 teams participate. One team travelled from Long Island. There were a few others from quite a ways away.

DH and my DSS both played in the tournament. I took a lot of photos. I decided to add text to this one, I felt it was a good one to do this too. I think maybe I should make the first line smaller so Corr Tournament stands out better. A few posts ago I had mentioned there will be tournaments that I'll be able to shoot all the bags across the whole fence and this team is good for that. They are sponsored by Easton. They're a great group of guys and love the game!
This is my DSS. He's not as addicted as my DH but he plays tournaments once in a while.
Love these type of shots. When I zoomed in, he's squinting because there was so much dust.

Can't forget about the eye candy LOL!

these are really good action shots... it's sad to hear a story like that but the fact that people are out there to help out, it's a very gratifying thought....

Hi Michelle! Unfortunately I was too quick to delete my photos off the card already. I can't figure out how to get my settings off of PS. But I shoot with Nikon D70s, I used my 70-300mm f/4. I know my ISO was 200 and for the most part aperture was between 4.5 and 5.5 and shutter speeds were 1600 to 2000 I know a few times I was around 500. Sorry I can't give exact settings. I gotta learn to at least write them down for photos I'm posting. I also had white balance set for direct sunlight. Sun was full bore all day! I haven't used this lens since last September so the other night I was pretty shakey with it, but seemed a little better for me with these shots.

Your journaling made me tear up. It's great to hear about this tournament/trust. It would make me proud of all the players.
That being said, GREAT shots!

You shots are fantastic. I really love the dusty one. I can so relate to that shot. It has been dry around here, and I live on the ball field covered in dust. LOL
