POTD - Outside of Photography

I am an avid scrapbooker/stamper. Unfortunately, I haven't had much time to do this so I'm very behind. I was a teacher at the local scrapbook store but had to quit in October due to such a hectic schedule. Again, unfortunately the store closed in December. Here is a sample of my paper stash. I would dare say I have thousands of dollars in supplies! Attended my first CK event back in June 2006 in Buffalo, had a blast!

Because I was teaching at the store I needed to venture into stamping. I mainly have acrylics letters, shapes, etc. for scrapbooking. I have began to make more cards too so I did buy some wooden rubber stamps.

POTD - Outside the World of Photography

Running! It's definitely a love/hate activity for me. I hate getting started, I hate it while I'm doing it. But then I LOVE when I'm done, I feel so much better! I've been running for 5 years now. One of my 100 things to do in a lifetime goals is run the Boilermaker. So far I have not succeeded in accomplishing this goal. I have done the Boilermaker 5k race, but not the 15k race. I'm hoping to succeed this year it'll be the 30th year anniversary. Of course shin splints have begun and I totally bagged running this weekend because it was rainy and windy. Not running for a few days really sets you back. Hopefully I can get some running in at the skating arena on Tuesday when my DD has skating practice. I also have goals of running 100 miles in a season, etc. I keep track of my miles on my other blog.

POTD - Something Old

I know not really creative another old truck. I've been eyeballing this truck for quite a while. Everytime I take my DD to ice skating we drive passed it and for some odd reason I love it!

Unfortunately I blew out the sky and the large water tank on the back!

POTD - Something Old

On my drive home from work, I decided to take a few back roads in the hopes of finding "something old". When I saw this truck, I immediately turned around! It was quite aways out in the side yard. I put my window down, kind of guessed at a possible correct setting and shot away! This truck isn't even a mile from my house and I never knew it was there. I'm definitely going to find out who owns it, looks like a good photo option for seniors!

I used Indie's Rich action on this one. Love those actions!

POTD - Something Old

This is Schyler's swingset. It is 8 years old and it has had it. It's so rusted! What an eyesore! I wanted it taken down last Fall but that didn't happen so I'm hoping this Summer I can persuade my husband to get it down.

POTD - Emotions, Anger, Sadness, Anxiety

. . .well in the first photo he's not really angry. This is my step-daughter's dog Keiser. Right at the moment he's sort of homeless. She can't have him where she is living right now so he is "temporarily" living at our house. This first photo shows he's having a hard time adjusting and he's not used to being chained either. He's actually barking at DD and I because he wanted us to come over and see him. He's really a good dog it's just unfortunate that he doesn't have a permanent home at the moment. That white backdrop is actually a door, worked perfect.

so funny
too bad I didn't have the white door here
he's curious now because he's watching Schyler

POTD - Emotions - Happy, Excited

I know this isn't the greatest shot but it's one of my favorites. This was Schyler's first competition this year. Before they begin the girls go out on the ice to warm up. She was stroking past me and happened to catch a glimpse of me down in the announcer's box. She stops, turns around and this is what I got . . . love it! Sorry for the mommy goggles. I was shooting through thick glass and it was pretty dirty and scratched up. I tried a color pop and didn't seem to help much either. Any suggestions?

POTD - Emotions

This was a a very intense game and I tried to shoot more of the emotion than anything else.

POTD - Sunrise, Sunset

After a long dreary day, I happened to notice the sun shining like crazy around 7:00 p.m. So I grabbed my camera and ran outside. I kept getting a huge white line down the middle of the photo where the sun is. Why couldn't I get a nice round sun? Anyway I decided to try the shadow photos that I've seen before. I posted a couple sunsets below but that was after the sun had come down some more. You'll notice the white line I was talking about this was the best one I got. While I was up on the RR tracks, I took a picture and 3 ducks come flying up out of the bushes/creek. Scared the crap out of me. After I quickly got my camera back in my hands (LOL!) I was able to get a shot off!

POTD - Sunrise, Sunset

This has been a rough week in NY for sun! After it had snowed most of the day, the sun tried to peak through this ugly dark cloud. This was the best it got LOL! Sorry!

POTD - Sunset, Sunrise

I wasn't able to come up with anything for last week and with the weather we've had lately I wasn't sure I'd be able to participate this week either. I happened to be driving up a back road and saw the sun just at the horizon. I immediately pulled over, jumped out with camera in hand, changed settings on my camera and . . . it was gone!!! I couldn't believe how fast! So this is all I got. Not the greatest but it was my first try at sunsets.

DSLR Challenge #5 - Action/Sports Photography

The school's gym lighting isn't horrible but it's not great either. Manual ISO 800 1/400 f/2.2. I usually keep settings the same unless I'm taking a couple of them huddling, etc. I can't seem to get the coloring right on this first one? Doesn't help that my PS skills are slim to none.

Too bad I cut his hand off, I was too close for my 85mm, other than that I like this one though.

This is one of my favorites, but his spiking hand is slightly blurred.

POTD - Food?

Ok, well I guess this can qualify as food if you eat goose LOL! I used Indie's Deeply Rich on this. What do you think? I feel like the geese get lost in the coloring if that makes sense. I'm not great in PS so I'm not sure how to fix it. The SOOC is very dull because our grass is just starting to revive from all the snow.
