POTD - 9/1/07

DD and I went to this field so I could practice some more. I learned a valuable lesson. . .if the grass is in the face have the person push it over slightly because it really looks like crap in the end result! So needless to say I did have to dump quite a few because the grass was right acrossed her face or one eye.

So let me know what you think of these. I'm looking for any cc!

I was in on the group buy for Lea's actions. This first one I used color action on but her skin seems to turn pretty red whenever I run this. The directions talk about erasing back if oversaturated but I'm not sure which layer to do this on. Ran Lea's color action on this one too.
Used Indie's Subtle to pop some of the color on this one.
Does this one look too contrasty. Not sure if that is the correct term but too sharpened I guess is what I'm trying to say. I ran the color action on it before I did the conversion.

POTD - Got my canvas!!!

I got my canvas today and I am soooo happy! I was feeling pressured to get this done because I only had a few days left. I could not decide so I gave my DH the choice out of 3 and he chose this one. I know these aren't the best shots of them but I'm not feeling well and just wanted to get a few posted. Her face really isn't that red on the canvas. Actually the color in these are horrible but the canvas looks great ;)

POTD - A Week in our Lives

Pop Warner cheerleading is definitely a part of our lives. . .for the next 3 months, 3 nights a week, 2 hours a night, plus games on Sunday and our fundraisers! This weekend was our first fundraiser. . .a car wash! It was the first time we've ever tried this and the kids had a great time.

Here is my baby trying to draw in the customers :)Uncle Scot made sure he showed up during our shift with his big ass white Durango with about 6,000 bugs embedded to the front-end of his truck LOL! He made it worth the kids while with his donation though so we forgive him.
I tried to keep face shots at a minimum because I don't have releases yet. I'm donating my time as the team photographer so they can make a calendar of their season and hopefully make more money for the teams. I got some really cute shots of the younger kids putting soap suds on each others heads with their sponges. . .cute!

POTD - Fill the Frame

Here's my POTD theme photo. So I finally decided to get on the otherside of the camera. I totally reminded myself here why I like to be on the photographer's side :) I think I squinted in every shot. I was using the tripod and timer and I had to keep running back and forth and by time I was done I was soaked it was so hot out!
This was "S's" pose idea. Oh, look there I am squinting again.
OMG I suck! I haven't been in pictures in so long I don't even know how to look LOL! Even though the color isn't as vibrant here and I couldn't seem to fix it, this is one of the better ones. I think I like it not only because you can't see my squinting eyes but because it was fun to do with DD.
Taking photos of yourself is pretty hard. It was tough to come up with some sort of composition and pose running back and forth LOL!
Here is "S" showing me how it's done!

Any cc you want to give is greatly appreciated!

POTD - Fill the Frame

First I want to thank everyone for your comments yesterday. Totally appreciate it! I'm really trying hard to get as good as you guys ;)! Oh and Michelle, yah this is going to be a long week working on assignment #2, wow!

Here's some more shots of "S" with our pretend Lil' girls Trash the Dress Session. I'm trying really hard to work on my color without using any actions! These looked pretty good until I put them on here and I did resize, etc. for the web.

This one was funny she was trying to get in and got hit with one of the sprayers and this was her reaction LOL!
I don't have a calibrated monitor does this one look funky on yours?
All of these have a lot of shadows because of full sun so I might reshoot these late in the afternoon some time.
Love her lil' toes peeking out again!Any cc you want to give would be greatly appreciated!

POTD - Fill the Frame

My mom had gotten this dress for "S" about 6 months ago at a consignment shop for her to play dress up in. She's really not into that anymore so I threw it in a bag to give away. After all the talk on 2peas about consignment shops and Trash the Dress sessions, I dug it back out. It was pretty tight around the top on her but she was willing to try a lil' girls trash the dress session. I figured this was a good opportunity for me to practice metering for white. Ha, ha as you can see I need a lot more practice! I just cannot find the happy medium. I spot meter off the dress and everything else is dark. I meter off my hand the dress is blown out. I tried the f16 sunny rule in the total sun and that didn't work either. Any suggestions for me?

I have also tried to work on fixing my color without using actions! So please cc me on that too!!
I know this one is really funky. I couldn't get it right. She was in complete shade and I had WB on shade and it ended up really warm. Oops I lied here! I fixed the color myself and then I ran a Warm Tone action on this one.
Man this photo scares me LOL! She's almost 9 and acts like she's going on 21! Too much Next Top Model watching going on here.
She got totally disgusted here because someone from the parking garage whistled at her. Her comment, Oh my gosh that's disgusting to whistle at an 8 year old. LOL! So we moved on and went to City Hall and the Water Fountain. Oh and I love her little painted toes showing from the bottom of the dress here!
I have a ton more of these but haven't really had time to look through them. I think we might have to redo the fountain shots. The sun was really high and I got a lot of dark shadows on her face. I need to make a new rule or tie that darn reflector around my waist so I always have it with me!!

POTD - Hot

This one is a repost. I tried to fix the color better and am looking for cc of this one compared to my last post. Here are couple I haven't posted yet. I am so disappointed because this was the only one I could even salvage. I seriously underexposed these and with the sun on the side coming down I ended up with a ton of completed front shaded photos. Perfect example of why I so desperately need this class LOL! So does this look ok at least. Most of these that I tried to fix, she ended up looking like she had a black eye. She really wanted to see the ones with the dress so we're going to have to reshoot them.
How is the color in these? I seriously need to learn some better photoshopping skills and am hoping to be able to recognize my color errors soon! Looks pretty warm doesn't it? Is that really a bad thing?
