Finally A Teenager Session

I only say finally because she said it seemed like it took forever for her to finally become a teenager :) And yes like usual I'm really late posting this. She turned 13 in August but I'm just getting around to paying attention to my blog again.

It seems like every time we go out to have a session together it always turns into a mini-session. We had a ton of outfits but every location we went to the lighting was horrible. It was extremely hot too. So neither one of us was interested in having a prolonged session. Somehow I am always happy with what I get of her though. Definitely mommy goggles even now that she's 13!! :p Here's some of my favorites from our mini.

I've neglected my blog a little. I got too busy so I'm playing catch up now. When you look at these do you totally think Ambercrombie model? Cause I do! I can't believe that James is graduating. I've known him for....well since he was a little kid and now he's graduating, crazy! His mom was like he's so particular and wants to buy new clothes for his session. No complaints from me! I'm glad he actually cares what he looks like and wants to look perfect :) Most guys do not care and are getting their pictures taken because mom is making them. Yes, this is going to be overshare because for 1. Victoria booked two separate sessions; and 2. She had two awesome sessions! Loved her clothes they were perfect for both settings and the guitar was such a perfect color. I knew I picked the right location for Kayla! I love this session....well I love all my sessions but I think this one is extra special. She told me she did not like to get her pictures taken at all. This is the third time photographing this beautiful girl. My first session with her was back when I was starting out and she was around 12 or 13. She is a dancer and she was my first experience shooting jumps. When she was 15 or so, mom called and wanted another session. Again, another great session. Forward to now...senior! I was looking forward to this session. I knew what I was going to get and what to expect. Here's just a taste of what I got.

My first guy of the season. I would dare say it wasn't too much torture, right John? I think I laughed throughout this whole session. Sometimes I had to take a minute otherwise I would have had a full session of blurry shots :) John's family was so helpful and it made the session go very smoothly. Finally....finally we got Brianne's session in. Like a tornado the first day and the same situation on her reschedule date. Luckily this day it was a steady breeze that worked, for the most part, to our advantage :) Absolutely loved your hair! Such a pretty color. We had Sam's session at her home. The weather has been a little crazy lately. It's extremely hot but rain and black clouds constantly. I didn't think that black cloud was ever going to move on, but when it did the sun was soooo hot! I think we were all melting a little lol. We had such a humid, extremely hot week. This day was no exception. We started at 7:30 a.m. and by 8:00 a.m. I think I had melted lol Wow we were so hot! Then of course we were trying to do sports shots and the wind had to keep ripping her jerseys off the wall. It felt so good but we wanted to finish and move on! lol I loved this session. We got a good variety!

Another great session! Loved working with Mikayla and her mom. It was pretty hot but we made it through it lol We started in the City at a beautiful location with all the wrought iron and stone walls and then headed to the country for some tall grass and dirt roads. Mikayla told me she practiced different posing so she knew what she looked like and, you know, I like that! I'm glad she took the time to pay attention to the details and read all my tips. She was very easy to work with and a great girl!

This was such a fun session! I had so much fun working with Alexis and her mom. She was soooo sweet and giggly. I was so amazed at how muscular this little girl was at her age. She's been dancing for 8 years now....that explains it. I stopped for a minute and was thinking about poses and I was kind of talking to mom off to the side. I was explaining how I'm so used to doing seniors and I really don't want to pose her like, um, well...sexy. She pipes right up and say's "I can do sexy"! Mom and I cracked right up, so cute! So funny how they want to grow up so fast and we as moms of little girls want them to stay little girls.

Yup, they're mine. This is my step-son, his beautiful fiancee and their beautiful princess! I've gotten to photograph my grand-daughter numerous times but I've never gotten all three of them together until now. We are working on save the date photos for their wedding next summer. I got to admit I felt a little bit weird telling them to kiss lol but after a while I was okay. Had a lot of fun shooting Peyton flying. That's what she says when she wants to go in the air..."fly"? I was very happy with this session here's a little taste, well a larger taste than normal.

Baby Logan {Newborn Photographer}

I met the cutest little family a week or so ago. Big sister was the cutest, spunkiest thing! She wasn't shy at all and immediately joined right in helping carrying everything in and set up. Baby Logan sensed something going on so he was wide awake as you can tell from the first shot. It really didn't take much to put him to sleep and once he was out we were able to get a lot of shots. Next feeding took a little longer but like I always tell the moms we're on baby time here lol Here's a few to peak at:

That's what this post is going to be. I usually don't have much to share during the winter months. Back when I first started out, I used my daughter as my model and I was always taking her pictures. Since I've gotten so busy with clients from Spring right on through to late Fall, I barely can get a small session in with my daughter. This year she asked if we could do a quick session before we went shopping. I was thinking heck yah! We never get to have fun sessions anymore. This was a real mini-session and I haven't even finished going through her pictures but I got some processed just to kick off the season here on my blog. Here's my baby, my one and only, the reason I get up every day...I can't believe in a few months she will be a teenager :(

Now is the time to start working on the details of your announcement. Deciding on the look you want, which photos, the details of the party, receiving online proofs of your announcement so it's exactly how you like it before it goes to print. Then of course receiving them back from the lab and getting them to your door so you can get them addressed in time and out to all your guests.

I have a variety of announcements and most can be changed to color coordinate with your photos, etc.

If you are interested in ordering announcements, please contact me and we can get this process started without delay. Look forward to hearing from you!

Mckenzee's mom wanted to do the session at her home. She said they had a pond, a this and a that. I was hoping there was going to be enough there that we could get a variety. I was so excited when I got there and saw what they had. It's like a backyard studio! Great stuff! She also said she has a little red sports car she wanted her pictures taken with. So I'm thinking okay senior, it's probably like a little Cobalt with a spoiler or something...wrong! It's a convertible BMW Z4 and it's hot! I fell in love with it! Now I'm going to have to add a picture so everyone can see it LOL

I had my good friend help me with this session because I was short on help. Luckily she knows Richie pretty well so he didn't feel completely uncomfortable. I can only imagine what he was thinking when his mom sent him off with the two of us....LOL! I laugh every time I think about the different stuff we said to him and what her and I talked about. Poor thing. Although mom did say he had a good time. We tried to make him as comfortable as possible and we laughed quite a bit. Plus we talked a little baseball (Yankees of course) and basketball. Can you say bokeh! Wow, such a great location! Had a great time working with Alex and her parents. I LOVE when the moms get involved and enjoy the shoot as much as I do. We were just starting to warm up and then got cut off. I left feeling like there was so much more we could have done, but unfortunately it didn't work out that way for us. After a few phone conversations with Brittney's mom, we got all the details of her session set. The morning of her session we were meeting at a mutual spot so they could follow me to our first location. Brittney and her mom pull up and both mom and I look at each other like, OMG! Neither one of us had any idea we knew each other, LOL. Brittney's mom was my daughter's third grade teacher! Brittney was so prepared for this session! She read my helpful hints ;) She had all her clothes on hangers with any accessories she wanted to use in baggies attached to the hangers. I also loved that she had a different pair of shoes for each outfit too! Here's your sneak peek Brittney!

Tim {2011 Senior Sneak Peek}

I was worried we weren't going to get this session in with the weather and was hoping they weren't going to be making the trip for nothing. Luck was on our side and we ended up getting some decent weather. Nice people! Tim was extremely helpful carrying my equipment, which can get pretty heavy. I had asked Tim why he didn't want to do any football shots. Sadly it's because he's not going to be playing his senior year. I mean we can always use big guys like him to help out. But life gets in the way and jobs are how you make money. My advice to all the kids is you will have your whole life to work, be a kid and play that last year. Unfortunately, that doesn't get you the things you want and need. Nearing the end of his session, his mom complimented him on how well he was doing and I agreed. That's when he told us it was because he wanted to make my job easy for me, which I was really impressed with! Nowadays, unfortunately you don't hear that too much. Tim, you did make my job easy for me and thank you!

Hunter {2011 Senior Sneak Peek}

I got to photograph Taylor Swift! Not really but doesn't she look like her?! She could probably pass for Jessica Simpson too, no? I had a great time working with Hunter. Hunter decided she wanted her session at this location and Adam was nice enough to let us use whatever we liked. What a great place! Her little sister Chloe was a huge help and after a while she was really getting the hang of using the reflector (I think she enjoyed torturing her sister a little with the bright light in her eyes lol). I was pretty excited about doing some track shots with Ryder. Unfortunately, things didn't go as planned....I broke my softbox pretty much as soon as we got started. So the fact that I had to run back to my truck and get my umbrella and setup again, etc. we were running short on time. Considering that minor detail and the fact that we were all melting out there on the track in 90 degree weather, I was pleased with the cool shots we did get. Isn't he such a handsome little guy?! I loved all his hair...he is so precious. His momma is pretty proud of him too. We weren't very successful getting him into a deep sleep so we weren't able to get a large variety, but I'm happy with what I did get. I'll be finishing up his session at the end of this week. I'm hoping to convince his momma that 89 degrees will be plenty warm enough for him to be outside for a few shots too ;) Hopefully he'll be much sleepier this time too.

I love these! We literally did this session in 15 minutes. I wanted to try out the new hat and she had the perfect shirt on so we ran up on the railroad tracks behind the house and did it. Besides that she owed me for a few new outfits she got that day.

I usually will add an outtake if I get one. If she does it and I get it, it's free game LOL

Rock That OCF Workshop {Ottawa, Canada}

I was so excited about going to the workshop! It's something I've been wanting to learn for a long time. I was so excited when Ali Hohn emailed me and said there was a cancellation and if I wanted it, I could have it! I brought Schyler with me because they needed models. We had such a great time. I got to hang out with a great group of ladies and everyone was so willing to help and offer their opinions, etc. Here's a large sample of what I came away with. I just ordered an alienbee and a vagabond so I can do this at home with my clients. It's going to be such a great addition to my work!

I had a lot of fun shooting Ulrick. He may be large but he is still a pup with lots of energy. He was really into his Mom, well actually she's the grandma but she does spend a lot of time with him and takes care of him too. I have so many photos to go through from this trip...wow! Slowly but surely I'm adding some of my favorites though.

Here is Amy and Tracie, two of my buds from 2peas. Such great girls! Amy came from Wyoming and Tracie from Oregon.

Here's Meg's daughter. Isn't she the cutest, sassiest thing you ever did see? She was so fun to photograph!

Vlad working solo here. He and his fiancee', Melanie - oh wife now! - were amazing models! I'll be posting some of them together real soon. Great, great to work with and such a nice couple.

Model? Nope, but she should be. Believe it or not she's one of the photographers. Can you believe it? I can't decide which side of the camera she belongs on! She has an amazing talent and lots of creative skill as a senior photographer. Loved hanging out with her at Red Rock and getting some fun shots!

I met up with a bunch of photographers from my board out in Denver. Schyler and I had a great time with everyone! We won't even discuss when I was there because it was a while ago and I'm just getting around to processing and posting these. The first day we went to one of the parks. We split into groups and photographed some of the kids.

This particular girl was a dream to photograph. You always know when you're shooting a photographer's child.

We headed to downtown Denver for some urban fun. So many places to choose from. Nice City too!

This is one of my favorite shots of Schyler while we were there.

I'll be posting many more here and there. We had did urban, art district in Denver, engagement, couple, maternity....then Schyler and I stayed a few extra days and went horseback riding, hiking, etc. We had a good trip.

First day of spring and I am loving it! The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, my canvas of Peyton came in today, NCAA Tournament all weekend....I am just lovin' life right now! I am just loving the boots with shorts look lately. I like how it can be a tad dressy and yet not. Storyboard LOVE!

Storyboards are a great way to tell a story....that's why we call them storyboards ;) So what better way to tell a sports story than through a storyboard. I attended most of the home games to get a lot of shot choices for Matt's board. Well, and because I love basketball! Matt's parents asked me to put together a storyboard as a gift for him. This will sadly be his last season playing basketball. He's a senior and will be graduating in June. This board came in today and I am LOVING IT! It's printed in metallic and mounted on 1/4" foamboard. It is SWEEEET!

So if you are thinking about any sports shots, this is definitely the way to go!

Well it's looking like winter will be staying a bit longer...we got around 10" of snow last night. But moving on and looking forward to spring and getting started with the 2011 senior season soon...I thought this outfit was simple, fashionable and just plain cute! Wow it's only been a week since my first {Fashion Friday} and I've already blew it! So maybe I won't always make Fashion Friday but I'll get to it before the weekends out. It could be {What to Wear Weekend?} if I'm late ;)

I'm really starting to get sick of winter and this bright outfit really made me want to see the sun. So it's something to look forward to. Love the color of this dress and the blue shoes really accent to it. This is purposely only to give everyone ideas when they're wondering what to wear to make their senior pictures look awesome! Our Sweet Peyton {3 Month Session}

Hey Seniors! I want to start something new here. You might have all heard of Polyvore by now. It's a great site where you can mix and match fashion items likes jeans, blouses, purses, boots, shorts, jewelry, etc. I think you get the idea. It's free and I thought what a great way for seniors to put some outfits together that they might like to wear during their senior session.

I'm going to add a few here every Friday (well hopefully every Friday - sometimes life can just get hectic). There is some really talented "fashionable" people on that site. I had to use that word it's my daughter's favorite saying when she's talking about clothes. This will also help when you're unsure what to wear, visuals are so much better aren't they?!

I love how cute and simple this it, yet classy. The matching green shoes and purse really top it off and add a splash of color.

My second repeat client....Miss Sydney who obviously loves being the super model. It was pretty chilly and she came prepared with her adorable jacket, mittens, scarf and even ear muffs. We managed to get a few locations in but even super models get cold and reach their limit with this New York weather ;) I'm running a little behind on proofing due to a nasty cold but I'll get her full gallery up in the next week or so.

Some of you might recognize her. If not, look up at the flash header. I'll give you a hint...red dress ;) It was 2 years ago she made me famous with the "ballerina shot" LOL! Well I don't know about famous but all my photography friends remember that shot - it's definitely a favorite of mine. I was very happy to be photographing Amanda again. She's so easy to work with and I loved her clothing choices. It was pretty chilly, well if I remember correctly it was pretty darn cold the first session we had together too. Do me a favor when we do your senior pictures in two years call me in the spring or summer when it's warm LOL! Anyways, I'm still working on your session and this is probably a little of an overshare. It's not even going to come close to the overshare that will be in your gallery. When I'm talking you had a great session...I mean you had a great session! Good luck choosing Mom ;)

Introducing Peyton Rayne {Officially a Grandma}

So it has to be said...yup, I am now a grandma ;) I've had a few friends online wonder how I could be a grandma at my age. I just answer that with "that's what step-children will do to you" LOL! I don't care, she's so beautiful and we are all so proud of her. She's going to have a lot of people oooh-ing and ahhh-ing over her for a very long time. We didn't have a very successful session during the 2 days of trying. That's fine though we'll have plenty of more photo opportunities throughout the years to come.

Here she is with daddy. While I was photographing her, he was like a mother hen. Kept coming in and checking on her...it was so sweet to see him with her.

I love the dramatic light here.

Here she is with her pretty momma. I am so going to enjoy watching these two bond together. I can see these two riding the horses together and hanging at the barn. Shauna will have her own little sidekick.

My heart just melts when I look at these. She is such a precious little girl.

Tyler {2010 Senior Sneak Peek}

I was running on almost 24 hours of no sleep before Tyler's session. I was at the hospital all night waiting for the birth of our grand-daughter. I made it home in time though :) Had a great session. Tyler was cooperative and even had props ready. We grabbed his soccer ball and jersey on the way but he had his snowmobile all set-up for the session. When he asked if he could possibly get some pictures taken with his tractor, I was like sure why not! He said he had to call for it because it was being used that morning on the farm. I said ok, go ahead we'll work it in. Then the thought crossed my mind...how big is this thing? He said big! It was too! I don't have a full shot of it here but you get the idea of how large this monster is. It was pretty cool.

I love the processing on this one!

I have to admit I was pretty excited when Dana contacted me for a session. I sort of, kind of knew she played field hockey (I was scouting the team last year) ;) Well, not really but I was at a game last year and saw her play. So of course I had her bring her gear. At 3:00 a.m. tomorrow I will be on my way to the airport . . . heading to Denver, Co for a photography get-together. Heading to Colorado Springs for some horseback riding in the Garden of the Gods; possibly some whitewater rafting; and up to Boulder for some hiking. Wanted to go to a Colorado Rockies game one night but they're out of town the whole time were there, bummer. I'm a huge Yankee fan but thought it would be cool to go to Coors Field.

Lots of excitement during Keirstin's session. First thing I got my husband's truck stuck as soon as we got to our first location. It just sunk right in the muck on the side of the dirt road. You might remember Lakyn from a few years back. I photographed her with her pretty little horse. Well, she's a senior now and I was lucky enought to get to take her seniors pictures! It was a weird weather day (like NY weather hasn't been crazy all summer), but it was cloudy, threatening rain, then real sunny. . .again crazy! Lakyn seemed pretty nervous and unsure of herself for some reason when we started off. The minute she changed into another outfit she was like a whole new person.
